Thank god for the long weekend. I’m unsure about you, but it’s much needed here. For those of you outside of Ontario, Family Day is the third Monday of February and observed as statutory holiday three Canadian provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. Manitoba celebrates Louis Riel Day and it’s Islander Day in Prince Edward Island.
Despite a busy week, I managed to read some good articles across the blogosphere here and there. So, here’s this weeks Sunday Link Charity, and in case you missed it, here is Sunday Link Charity #10, who knows maybe you were featured.
Modest Money – If you’re sitting on the fence about buying a eReader, Jeremy does a fantastic job of explaining some positives of eReaders in his post called buy an eReader & save money on books. Despite a solid post, he failed to convince me. I’m odd, no doubt, but I like the feel of a book in my hand. Call me old school, but that’s me.
One Cent At A Time – SB writes a unique post called how to shop for an engagement ring to maximize value for money , even though this is a “sponsored post”, SB does a pretty good job highlighting some key points and most importantly reminds us to stick to our budgets.
Financial Samurai - Can I collect unemployment insurance if I have a passive income? Good question, supposedly in United States the end conclusion is that it doesn’t matter if you make $100,000 a year in passive (unearned) income, you still get to collect unemployment insurance. So, a bigger question comes out of this; Can we do this in Canada?
Young and Thrifty – Avrom wrote a pretty solid post for YT called dividend income vs blogging income; which one comes out on top? anyone can make a nice part-time income from a website if they’re patient, persistent, write good content, and let’s not forget the four letter word L-U-C-K!
Prairie EcoThrifter – I really enjoyed the post on how to excel at your primary job because it reminds all of us working folks that we should not forget out primary jobs. Secondary incomes are just that; secondary.
Thanks to all those who hosted some wonderful carnivals. Finance Fox was featured in the following:
Yakezie Carnival – Mardi Gras Edition
Totally Money Blog Carnival # 53 – Totally Money Edition
Thirty Six Months – The Carnival of Financial Camaraderie- Rain Man Edition

Thanks for the feature Mr. Fox. Don’t be too quick to reject the idea of an eReader though. You can get a case for it to make it open up like a book and still have all the benefits such as portability.

It’s a preference more than anything else. I like the feel of a book, flipping pages, and just the feeling of holding a book. On top of it all, I enjoy collecting books and seeing them added to my personal library of books.
I’m with you on this one, Eddie. I like books too! I refuse to do the ipad thing and get a text book in an ereader.
I just can’t do it. I know its terrible and I’m killing trees, but I just cannot learn the same way looking at a screen.
btw, thanks for the mention- Avrom did a fantastic guest post :)

Yeah I agree, the feel is just not the same, and looking at the screen is much different versus actual book pages. I stare at screens long enough throughout the day, the last thing I need is more screens.
Yo Eddie, can you do it in Canada? I gotta imagine YES in your country given the generous benefits?
