It’s been anything but an exciting weekend here in Toronto as we’re getting belted with rain from what I believe is Hurricane Sandy that’s moving along the east cost of USA and heading towards Nova Scotia and New Newfoundland. To be quite honest with you, I hate rainy weekends. I spend five days of the week in a 5×5 office, which is nice and cozy, so I don’t mind rain during the week, but for Pete’s sakes I hate seeing rain or snow storms on weekends. Not only does it make the weekend dull, but it certainly doesn’t motivate me to get out and do anything. However, I tried my best to stay in an upbeat mood to get out and enjoy some of the weekend.
Let’s face it: The weather’s the weather! There are those who forecast it, we complain about it, but at the end of the day there’s nothing that will change the weather. So come what may, we’ll do like we always do – put on our galoshes, pull out our umbrellas, and if need be, even drag out our winter coats. Some of you will make lemonade, but I forgo-ed lemonade for bingo, and actually had fun at the session.
Three hours flew by, I threw away $50 and woman sitting in front of me won $5,000, which happened to be the second biggest prize of the night. Even though I didn’t win anything, I enjoyed bingo and in the process drew a few conclusions from some close observation:
- I think I was the youngest person in the bingo hall that night. Average age seemed to be around 45+.
- People enjoy bingo a lot, and some of the regulars can play 4 or 5 cards at the same time per any given game.
- Without trying to sound prejudice, majority of the players looked like they were on welfare, while oddly enough the parking lot was packed with BMWs, Benzo’s, Audi’s and other luxury vehicles.
- I’m a total bingo rookie, who at times had trouble keeping up with even one card.
- I will go back again…..to play bingo……maybe sooner than I had anticipated.
- You can have fun even on rainy days.
