Finance Fox Weekend Recap – 7 Awesome Personal Finance Reads From This Week!

NFL, football, green bay packers

Another busy week for yours truly, but never the less a successful one at that. Also, its has noticeably gotten colder at nights, not sure where you are, but here in Toronto the temperature dropped down to a high of +11 overnight. It was only two weeks ago that the temperatures were in the mid-to-high 30s. I guess so much for summer, as fall begins to move back in, so does the wintery clothing.

On the bright side, football is almost here, and the NFL season is less than a month away from starting. On Monday I’ll be taking part in our annual football draft. Wish me luck!

Do you watch NFL Football? Who’s your team?

Share your football talk below, but in the mean time I’ll share 7 awesome personal finance reads from this week.

Canadian Budget Binder

Divorce – a common topic that has no true winners, but only losers. Grass is rarely greener on the other side, yet so many give up so quickly in hopes of greater pastures. Finances take a hit on both sides, and you get a fresh start all over again – and most of the times in debt. Here’s a great post on rebuilding life and finances after surviving a divorceMy two cents: Don’t get married……I’m joking…sort of!

Canadian Dream – Free at 45

Another post in response to “Why PF bloggers are broke”, last week it was Mr. CBB, this week it’s Tim with his post: So why are PF bloggers broke?   My Two Cents: I was a broke PF bloggers once, who’s gone from broke to living comfortable with solid goals in mind.

Work Save Live

Everyone likes to save money (I think), so here are Jason’s five frugal tips to help you save money this year so that you can have a solid financial footing. My Favorite is #4, I do it every year. Yes, I’m ghetto like that! :)

My Canuck Buck

Can you date on a budget? Absolutely, I practiaclly invented budget friendly dating – my favorite happens to be coffee (or ice cream) with a walk down by the lake – total cost is less than $10. Dating on a budget is possible, and chicks dig it – for the ones that show the frown – trust me you don’t want to be with a gold digging chick! :)

One Smart Dollar

Celebs are known for living the lavish lives, and being high rollers, but we shouldn’t paint all-of-em with the same brush. Here’s a great post on Sean’s blog about the frugal and famous: 10 celebrity penny pinchers. My fave is Kristen ;)

See Debt Run

Whether you’re just starting out as a family of two or about to add another kid to your ever-expanding clan, you’re sure to find a car that’s just right for your family no matter what the size. Here’s a great post on car features for families of any size.

Femme Frugality

If you like free education (and who doesn’t), FF shares a great tip with her readers on Free Education Brought to you by Social Entrepreneurship from some of the biggest Ivy schools. There is no cost, and you don’t get a diploma, but I did say that it’s FREE.

  2. I’ll be honest that was the first piece of advice that came to mind although I didn’t put it in there haha. (kudos to you)I have a wonderful wife so I can’t complain. Life just has a funny way of handing us trials and how we deal with them is the way the path will go. There is no right or wrong answers.. but we do know money is where it’s at. Thanks for the mention mate! Cheers Mr.CBB

  3. Thanks for the mention and good luck in your draft tonight! I had my draft last night and I’m fairly satisfied with my team. I’m in a keeper league and we do an auction draft each year…so it makes it fairly interesting. I would say the Chiefs are my team but I’m just a fan of the NFL in general.

    • Hi Jason!
      You’re welcome.
Chiefs were good when they has a good QB.
Remember the “Trent Dilfer” days…or “Priest Holmes” …man those were fun.
I’m a Bucs fan, live and die by them.

      • Unfortunately I don’t see things turning around for the Bucs. However, I think the Chiefs are headed for a very good year. We’ll see how it goes though…if Brandon Flowers doesn’t get healthy their secondary could be in trouble.
