I started my blogging journey as a bit of a fluke I suppose, with no true intention of ever becoming a blogger at all. For months I was following other bloggers in the personal finance community who were once in debt and now living debt free, and always said to myself, “Man I wish that could be me”.
That wish came true, and today I am that blogger who went from living in a pile of debt to becoming debt free in a little over 12 months. With a lot of anger, commitment, tough moments and sheer desire, I managed to eliminate $9k of debt spread across a credit card, student loan and line of credit in and become debt free for good.
In the same process I also turned what was once a journal blog that I used to keep me focused in my out of debt journey has now become a pretty sustainable side business. Once a dull blog that barely had 50 daily visitors has become a full-fledged personal finance blog that averages over 20,000 monthly visitors, has 710 twitter followers, growing email list and over 10 media mentions on and offline.
I hope I didn’t sound like I’m bragging above, because that’s not my intention, rather I’m highlighting some accomplishments that I’ve been able to achieve in a very short period of time due to a lot of dedication. It took me a little while to break through the metrics and turn Finance Fox into what has become a pretty decent Canadian personal finance blog. So, a big THANK YOU goes out to all of you!!
As a novice writer, which I consider myself that at best, I’m fortunate enough to have a strong following that has been my true inspiration time and time again.
